Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) The Country Profile is the most useful document in this data base. Country Profiles outline a country’s economic and political status and background. They give an annual perspective on the long-term political and social issues affecting each country. Note that there is an archive of these profiles going back to 1996. The Country Reports are intended for financial forcasting. HINT: you may find Mali by going to Africa and the Middle East as a region or from the alphabetical list of all countries. Europa World Plus is the online version of the Europa World Year Books and the nine volumes Regional Surveys of the World series. Updated regularly, this reference sources covers political and economic information in more than 250 countries and territories, and includes information about NGOs and IGOs. Each country has a bibliography at the end of the description!!! HINT: Use the country search option to go directly to the Mali section, or use the menu on the left side of the screen for a larger, regional perspective on "Africa South of the Sahara." Good place to begin searching for articles. This data base allows you to select only the academic journal articles. There are many links to full text. The subject coverage ranges from education to social conditions to science and health. Includes citations and abstracts of articles in over 1000 academic journals, magazines, and newspapers, of which over half are full-text. Broad subject coverage of business and social sciences. HINT: for optimal results, do a topic search for "Mali(location) ." Contains country reports and articles about countries including economic and social conditions. The International Index to Black Periodicals is now part of the is data base. Be sure to limit your search to the IIBP which contains current and retrospective bibliographic citations and abstracts to articles from over 150 scholarly and popular journals, newspapers, and newsletters from the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean, with some full-text coverage of nearly 20 core Black Studies periodicals. Coverage is international and multidisciplinary, spanning cultural, economic, historical, political, religious and social issues of importance to Black Studies disciplines. Updated monthly.
